Countless people have problems with their sleep! One common sleep problem is called sleep apnea. It comes from the Greek word that means “without breath”. There are three primary types of sleep apnea. The three types are called obstructive, mixed and central. Of the three types, obstructive is the one that is most commonly found. In all three forms, what happens is that when you are sleeping you actually stop breathing. These pauses in breathing can be for periods of up to one minute in length. And the pauses in breathing can occur up to hundreds of times per night’s sleep. This can wake you up or cause you to not fall into a deep enough rest.
