Silver Jewelry Offered in New Collections from Peru

Peru is known for its culture (think Machu Picchu) and for it’s food, which I recently tried and found to be outstanding. It is famous for its earthquakes and for being the land of the Incas. Now it has something else to be proud of and for which it will surely become very renowned: it’s artisan handicraft traditions, rooted in ancient history. A relatively new website called Tikanchay.com is selling silver jewelry that has been handcrafted so beautifully that each piece is a work of art. The designs range from contemporary to classic with materials as diverse as semi-precious stones and carved gourd – a remarkable art form that makes for wearable art. The three women who formed this company are dedicated to contributing to the entrepreneurial success of the artisans who craft this jewelry. Their standards are high and that is clear from the quality of the designs in their collection. I love the symbolism of someof the native materials and the bright colors of the seeds and shells. A great find!
