Every State Gives People the Option to Create a Custom Vanity Plate

January 20th, 2010 by admin

Every state’s department of motor vehicles allows people to create their own license plate messages. These vanity plates, as they are known, allow people to show their creative and humorous sides. Some of the most humorous and interesting vanity plates consist of creative use of a limited number of characters by plate owners, oftening involving combinations of letters and numbers. Great examples of this include “GR8TPL8TS”, seen on a car in Virginia. Drivers often use their vanity plates to convey some message about the state of their lives. Recently, a car was spotted in Illinois with the plate “BKRPTCY” which could mean either the driver was broke, or making a killing as a bankruptcy attorney. Drivers often use these special plates to make statements about themselves as well, as illustrated by the woman in Michigan whose car sports the plates “DUMBLND” or the environmentalist driving the Prius in New Jersey with plates that say “F OPEC”.
